Who is Glastonbury Veterinary Hospital

In 2023, Dr. Jason Haviar and Dr. Griffin O'Connor committed to creating a space where Glastonbury families and their pets would feel truly supported. Modernizing Glastonbury Veterinary Hospital allowed them to bring the hospital in line with the progressive, high-quality care they’ve always believed their community deserves.

Glastonbury Veterinary Hospital’s rich history in the community dates back to 1965. Dr. Jason Haviar and Dr. Griffin O'Connor are honored to continue the locally rooted and family-owned legacy while bringing a modern, relationship-centered approach to a community staple that has served generations of local families.
Our relationships with the families we serve make it not feel like work. You get to know families, their kids, their stories… that’s the best part of this job.” - Dr. Jason Haviar, Owner.

Our Story

Both Dr. Griffin and Dr. Jason began their journeys in veterinary medicine as undergraduates, though each came to the field in their own way. Dr. Jason grew up surrounded by veterinarians and animal care professionals, learning early on the value of connection and hands-on care. Dr. Griffin discovered veterinary medicine during her undergraduate years and immediately knew it was where she belonged.

Today, they share a commitment to practicing medicine that isn’t scripted. They are both committed to care centered on conversation, thoughtful choices, and helping each pet feel their best throughout every stage of life. The next natural step after working in veterinary medicine in different capacities was to own their own practice… together. And that’s where the next evolution of Glastonbury Veterinary Hospital was born.
Opening our own practice felt like the natural next step. It lets us connect with this community in the same way my father did for decades.”

Our Philosophy

Our Philosophy as a Locally and Family-Owned Veterinary Hospital

Growing up and experiencing family-owned veterinary care and the importance of connecting with the community in which you serve have shaped Dr. Griffin and Dr. Jason’s dedication to providing veterinary medicine without the limits, scripts, and limitations of corporate policies.

We wanted to create a practice where clients feel heard, pets feel safe, and our team feels valued.” - Dr. Griffin O'Connor, Owner.
Relationship-driven Medicine

As an independently-owned and community-focused veterinary practice, care begins with connection here. Dr. Griffin and Dr. Jason, along with the Glastonbury team, take the time to sit with you and your cat or dog companions to learn your pet’s story and establish a trusted foundation that can only begin with a genuine conversation.

Veterinary care here is personal. Our goal is to deliver treatment plans that are tailored to your “whole-pet,” not just a single symptom or diagnosis. We look at lifestyle, behavior, medical history, and your concerns as a caregiver to create care that feels thoughtful, practical, and truly supportive for your family.

You can’t create good medicine without good relationships. That’s why we make time to really know the families we serve.”- Dr. Griffin O’Connor, Owner.

A Culture of Listening

Your concerns matter, and they guide our approach. Before we ever begin a physical exam, we take a moment to meet you where you are: asking questions, listening closely, and understanding what you’re seeing at home.

I often go into the appointment, sit down at eye level, and just have a conversation. I’ll say, ‘Tell me everything,’ before we even start the exam.”- Dr. Griffin O’Connor, Owner.

Empowering Families

Veterinary care should feel clear, calm, and manageable. At Glastonbury Veterinary Hospital, we take the time to sit with you, talk through what’s going on, and explain everything in a way that feels easy to understand. You’re encouraged to ask questions, share your concerns, and be part of the process every step of the way.

When it comes time for treatment, we always provide multiple options for you and your family to discuss what is within your reach and best for your dog or cat companion. We promise to always approach veterinary care with honesty and transparency while keeping your pet’s long-term health at the center of the conversation.

“We explain everything clearly and make sure you feel comfortable with the plan. We’re here to support you, not overload you.” – Dr. Griffin O’Connor, Owner.

Growth

We are continually seeking ways to enhance the care we provide and to make Glastonbury Veterinary Hospital an even stronger resource for our community. Our hospital renovations, completed last year, were just the first step in redefining our veterinary clinic’s legacy. We are committed to creating a modern, welcoming space that reflects the highest standards of care we’re proud to provide to our neighbors and their pets.
